Getting Started
How do I set up the products I use?
FoamMinder keeps one shared list of your products that appears across every screen.
- Open Settings → Products → Manage Products
- Tap Add Product and enter a name
- Optionally add two specs: Gallons/Set and Rated Board Feet/Set
You can also add a product on the fly from any calculator — type it into the Add a product…
field and tap the +. R&D and Other are always available
without adding them.
Do I have to fill in the yield specs?
No — they’re optional. But if you add them, the app does more for you:
- Gallons/Set lets the Yield screen project a field sample into Board Feet per Set
- Rated Board Feet/Set auto-fills the Estimate screen and gives Yield a target to compare against
Field QC Calculators
How do I calculate density?
On the Density tab, pick a product, enter the sample’s width, length, height (inches) and
weight (grams), and the result appears in lbs/ft³. Tap Save Calculation to keep it in the
history, then use the share button to export the history as a CSV.
What’s the Displacement tab for?
A quick density check from a measured weight and volume (grams and mL) —
handy when you have a graduated container instead of a cut sample.
How does Yield work?
Enter Area, Average Thickness, Cycle Factor, and
Stroke Count. FoamMinder calculates:
- Board Feet / Gallon — the measured yield (this is product-independent)
- Projected Board Feet / Set — if the selected product has a Gallons/Set spec
- Yield vs. Rated — a color-coded percentage against the product’s rated yield
(green = at/above rated, amber = slightly under, red = under-yielding)

Where do I find my cycle factor?
The Data tab is a quick reference of cycle factors for common proportioners —
Graco, PMC, and BOSS — so you can look yours up and plug it
into the Yield calculator.
Wall Assembly & Condensation
What does the Wall Assembly tool tell me?
It estimates where the dew point lands inside a wall so you can gauge condensation risk when
using SPF for thermal and vapor control. Enter outdoor and indoor temperature and
relative humidity, choose the exterior finish, and pick the insulation
R-value (presets or Custom). You get the total wall R-value, U-factor, dew-point temperature,
the R-value depth where the dew point occurs, and a plain-language Condensation Risk: Low / High.
Where’s the explanation of the results?
Tap the ⓘ (info) button on the Wall Assembly screen for a full walkthrough — what each output
means, seasonal scenarios, worked examples, and best-practice notes.
Is this a substitute for a hygrothermal simulation?
No. It’s a best-faith field advisory aid based on standard steady-state assumptions — not a replacement for
WUFI-style modeling or a project specification. Use it to guide decisions, not to certify an assembly.
Estimating
How do I estimate how much foam a job needs?
On the Estimate tab’s Spray Foam Set Calculator, choose a product (its rated
Board Feet/Set fills in automatically, or flip on Custom to enter your own), then enter square
footage and thickness for each area — roof line, walls, garage ceiling, gable walls, subfloors, covered porch.
FoamMinder returns the estimated sets needed.
What’s the Corrugated Metal Calculator?
It computes the true surface area of a corrugated metal sheet — which is larger than its flat footprint. Enter
the sheet length and width (feet or meters) plus the corrugation
pitch (crest-to-crest) and depth (peak-to-valley, in inches or cm). The tool
models the profile and reports the surface area along with the developed-area factor it used.
Can I record the job and share the estimate?
Yes — add a Project Name and Address/Location at the top, then tap the share
button to send a text summary of your inputs, results, and disclaimer.
Daily Job Report
What can I capture in a report?
A full field record: employee, date, contractor, jobsite address, product, proportioner / gun / chamber, A- and
B-side lot numbers, initial and final machine settings, substrate details, material-performance observations,
notes, and photos.
Do I have to re-enter the same info every time?
No. Employee, Contractor, Proportioner, Gun,
and Chamber are remembered between reports and across app launches, so a new report starts
pre-filled with your usual setup.
How do I export a report?
Tap the export button. FoamMinder produces a CSV of the report data, a text file
of your notes, and a single PDF of your photos, then hands them to the iOS share sheet so you
can save to Files, email them, and more.
Conversions, Appearance & Privacy
What’s on the Calcs tab?
A set of unit converters spray-foam crews reach for — temperature, weight, volume, length, area, pressure, and
R-value ↔ U-factor — plus a Dew Point Calculator from temperature and relative humidity.
Can I change how the app looks?
Yes. In Settings you can switch the appearance between System,
Light, Dark, and Night Vision.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. FoamMinder works fully offline and needs no sign-in to use the tools. When you share or export,
the files go only where you send them through the standard iOS share sheet.
Are the calculations guaranteed?
The calculators use standard, industry-accepted formulas and are provided as best-faith field aids. Always verify
critical values against manufacturer specifications and a full takeoff — see the on-screen disclaimers on the
Estimate, Wall Assembly, and Calcs screens.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes — FoamMinder runs on both iPhone and iPad.

- Add each product’s Gallons/Set and Rated BF/Set once, and Yield and Estimate do the math for you everywhere
- Quick-add a product right from any calculator with the + field — no trip to Settings needed
- Use the Data tab to look up your proportioner’s cycle factor before running a Yield calc
- Tap the ⓘ on Wall Assembly for worked examples if a result looks surprising
- Fill in Project Name / Address on Estimate and Wall Assembly so your shared records are labeled
